I now have a blog site on beta blogger - its just for my trip to Germany next year to Rock am Ring, but you are welcome to go and read it. I see the site address has been removed, so, I am called Embersfire on that site, and the blog is called the Blog of Numbing Inevitability, for all Bill Bailey fans!

Just running through what I need to take with me. I need a notebook so I can record what happens. If I can read it when I get back I may put some of it in here. It weird - in a few days I will be in Germany for the first time, whole new country for me, and it doesn't seem quite real yet! Must go to Cologne cathedral (everyone does) and the chocolate museum, and at least one castle, and loads of other stuff. Everyone has asked for something when I come back, so a day shopping, puls the festival... No chance of sleeping then!

Been asked to do another handfasting - Weddings R Me! Went to a birthday party last night, and didn't get home til early. Its raining a lot (my son is camping this weekend) so i cleaned the bathroom, having nothing better to do. Started a Blog called the Blog of Numbing Inevitability, (Bill Bailey fan) and i can update at work if I want. Don't intend doing too much today.

...on my way I've booked a hotel in Cologne for the 31st May, and some airport parking (just hope i got the times right! Not sure how long its going to take me to get there and how long I need to leave to get to check in from parking place). Have tickets for gig (checked and re-checked) and flight numbers and times. Dad has a check-up while I'm away, but they (the parents) have told me they can manage without me doing the tour guide bit round London. Probably can, but without murdering each other? I pity the taxi driver. Had a really boring day at work, can't wait for the holiday. Have driver re-education on 22nd, and dentist check-up tomorrow first thing. Going for a glass of wine and a bit of a chill out now.

Dad has finally been released from hospital, and I have had a night in my own bed! Its been really exhausting, commuting to London each day, and not getting to Mother's house before 9 or sometimes 10 at night. There have been some complications and a lot of worry, but its all been worth it and now I have a couple of days before I go back to work.
I have also been asked to officiate at my friends handfasting, following their civil ceremony, so lots to do. Not done a handfasting before, so very excited and pleased they asked me to do it. Have been reading up on different forms of ceremony, and asking them to do the same. When I went to get a drinking horn for the ceremony, a girl working there asked if I would consider doing her handfasting too, so gave her my mobile number. Who knows? might be fun?
Got a speeding ticket, but I really don't care. I have been told I can attend a workshop to 'change my attitude' and avoid getting points on my licence, so will probably do that. B*stard copper was hiding in a hedge where they have just changed the limit from 40 to 30, and I was doing 36. Will probably be shown pictures of mangled kids and grieving relatives and be told I could have caused it. Don't feel too terribly PC at the moment.

...wherever there is. Dads got his date for his operation - triple heart bypass, 5th April. I have booked two weeks leave to be available for him and mum, its in London and they are both very apprehensive, its a long way from home for them and the operation has a chance of failure they don't want to think about. I am just trying to help where I can, between working all the hours I can, because when this happens I will be short of work = short of cash. I have a three day course in London starting tomorrow, which I don't want to go to, but work are paying, so I shall be away from home. Then back to 14 hours days to get the cash flow sorted, then freefall, when the operation happens. After that, who knows? If all goes well, I'll have time to see people, and use my own computer (so chat to people on here, sorry if anyone has missed me) and get used to normal stuff again. I got promoted, but it doesn't seem important right now. Maybe later.

Just sitting waiting to change CDs while I'm loading my mp3 player. Went to work yesterday evening, which was not so bad. I got to choose which music we were listening to in the shop, so put on Joe Satriani, Fleetwood Mac and Dire Straits. Got some good comments from the cutomers, which was nice. I like chilled out easy listening while I am at work, and the customers tend to take more time to choose the wine if they are relaxed. Sometimes I go for classical, but if the customers are happy with blues/rock, then I might go for that again, when its my turn. I have a pretty eclectic collection of stuff, so could be anything. Still got stacks to put on the player, but it seems to have plenty of room still. Recently had to replace my Levellers cds, all gone missing, along with Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Wagner! (I don't think the same person 'borrowed' all of them!) I also bought Bruce dickinson-Balls to Picasso, My Chemical Romance (two albums), and Rammstein-Live Aus Berlin, just because it was the only Rammstein album I haven't got. Had a couple of weird things happen on the computer lately. My modem seems to set itself so I can't get on the internet, but if I restore it from saved settings, its ok again. Also, some of my icons stopped working yesterday. They are ok today though. My son thinks it may be a virus, but the computer is old and cranky on a good day, so could be anything. Finished both my German oral tests, so only got a few bits to do to finish this years course. Still only know a fraction of what I need to, so will be back next year, if I can afford it. The biggest challenge is writing to people from this site in German! It takes ages and a dictionary, but is well worth it.

This week I have only one job to go to until Saturday. I have plenty other stuff to do though. I just bought a 10GB mp3 player which needs loading with my 100 or so best cds. I spent all day yesterday doing just that, and now I've got home I'm putting some more on. Also, I need to finish filling in an application form for a new job. If they will pay me enough, I want to work in Reading again. It was good for me last time, so hopefully it will be again. Unfortunately, I get distracted too easily, and now I'm surfing around the net writing the odd blog, etc. I just had a curry, and a drink, and now I'm all relaxed, which is good. The only thing that kept me sane today was listening to E Nomine on the new gadget! That way you can't hear the boring stuff going on around you.

Just had my day off for this week, went to the coast and walked along a shingle beach with my mother. The noise of the waves was immense. It was a really calm day with loads of sunshine. The surfers were hanging about in the swell, but there wasn't really any waves big enough for them. Then we came back and I tried to teach her some basic painting techniques. She has been talking about taking up painting for a while, and even had bought a load of paper and different sorts of paint, but never had the nerve to try. her drawing isn't bad, and she managed to pick up on what I was trying to say quickly, so hopefully she'll have another go sometime. Have been looking for my decree absolute for a while to apply for a new passport in my original name. Finally found it after several days searching everywhere. Why I never filed it with the other important certificates beats me. I always manage to lose stuff, either by 'clever' filing - I once put my CV in with my roleplay character sheets! or leaving it till later, which can mean years! On the plus side, I've thrown away loads of paper that had accumulated which has outlived its relevance, documents and guarentees for appliances I haven't had for ages, junk mail that was mixed with the important stuff, etc. Now its time to go back to work. Hopefully the crud won't regenerate in my filing system, but I wouldn't bet on it!
